you succeeded with a large class load
you have a great GPA
you volunteered with various organizations
you may have had an internship
You really need to stand out from the competition. And here is a tip: most college students do not know how to apply for a job and that includes including a cover letter!
Think about it for a moment. Out of 100 hundred resumes submitted, only about 25% of the applicants include a letter.
Do you want to be in the top 25% or the lower 75%?
The good news is though, that this type of letter is very easy to write, and only has about 3 paragraphs.
